Happy Thanksgiving

 This was my first Thanksgiving cooking SOLO, it was a wonderful day. Not picture perfect by anyone else's  standards, but pretty awesome in my eyes. I am so grateful for all that I have been blessed with.

We are alive, I have just been terrible about blogging. Let's see what have we been up to?

Cali is 3 months old.

I made a new family home evening chart with a friend.

The boys all got the flu bug. Of course not at the same time cause that would have been convenient. Thankfully it ended with the boys, and our poor babysitter.

Halloween

We started off the weak long celebration carving pumpkins with some of our favorite friends. We had an idea to use and idea we saw on pintrest where you use a mallet and cookie cutters. It wasn't as successful as we hoped, Walmart's scary cookie cutters weren't strong enough, but it was fun trying.

Loren and I went to a costume party as Wayne and Garth.

Loren took the kids shopping for their costumes and let them choose what they wanted. Tyden is a mummy, Jaxon is the grimm reaper and Brigg is a zombie doctor. Jaxon's even had red glowing eyes. They were pretty freaky this year.

I never know how much candy to buy and of course I bought too much again. The boys raked it in between the ward trunk or treat, boo at the zoo and then trick or treating. I was giving out that candy on halloween night and still we ended up with 2 giant bowls and one unopened bag of candy. Thank goodness for toothpaste!

And our sweet little Cali... a cute butterfly, fairy princess, ballerina or whatever else you can think of.

Just hanging around

Time is flying!

Cali is 8 weeks old and I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by. She is a very good little baby. I can't lie, all of my boys were really good babies, but I think she takes the cake.

She is a chunky 12 lbs, 10oz now.

Baptism and Blessing

A few weeks ago we drove over to Mesa for a very special weekend. Brigg's baptism and confirmation and little Cali's baby blessing.

In the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we wait to baptize the child until they are eight years old. We call this the age of accountability. When we are baptized and confirmed, we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and make a covenant with Heavenly Father to obey his commandments. It does not mean we will never make a mistake again, it just means we are old enough to be responsible for our choices. A baby blessing is just that, a blessing from our Father in Heaven.

It was a wonderful experience. We are so thankful for everyone who made the effort to be there and support our family.

Questions

Since we have had Cali the boys have had some interesting questions. I take that back, since we found out we were pregnant the boys have had some interesting questions. All of the boys will not accept the simple, short answer. They really want to know.

Brigg, back in February

"mom, how do you get the baby out of you?"

"I will go to the hospital and the doctor will help get the baby out."

"How?"

"He just does."

"But how?"

"Son, you are too young to know how. You can find out when you are older."

(this still does not suffice)

"Will they cut it out?"

(ugh)

"Yes son, sometimes they do."

Tyden, a few weeks ago

I am giving Cali a bath, which I normally do after the boys are in bed. Tyden was still awake and came in to watch.

"Mom, how does she pee?"

"Boys and girls have different private parts."

"I know, but how does she pee?"

"Tyden, I love you, please go to bed."

Jaxon, a few days ago

I am changing Cali's diaper

"Mom, how does she pee?"

repeat the same conversation I had with Tyden.

Obviously there are a lot of "boy" parts around this house and I am not ready to go into detail about the "girl" parts.

We have called Cali "baby Cali" Since we decided that would be her name. The other day Jaxon asked me what we would call her when she grew up. I responded with "Cali." My super smart son said, "but she won't be a baby anymore."

They do love me! Or maybe it is their little sister they love, or maybe it was just cold.

Connie was really nervous to take this picture. She was afraid that she was going to trip and fall down the mountain.

Loren's parents came this past weekend for a super quick weekend. Loren received a new calling in church, he is now the 1st counselor in the Bishopric. So his parents came to be here for that.

We sure packed it in. Saturday morning we went to Lowes and built police cars. Then we loaded up the car and drove to Ski Apache in Ruidoso. Alamo is around 4 thousand feet in elevation and it was about 85 degrees when we left our house. We were not really prepared for how cool it was at 12000 ft. The car thermometer said it was 50. It was so beautiful! We rode in the gondola to the top of the mt and had the most incredible view. After walking around and taking pictures, we headed back down and drove in to Ruidoso for dinner at the super yummy Cafe Rio. It is the most random local pizza place and I love it! Another great visit.
